Shotokan is a style created by Gichin Funakoshi, born in Okinawa in 1868. Master Funakoshi contributed to promote and popularize karate in Japan.
Shotokan karate training is based on kihon, kata and kumite. Shotokan's techniques are characterized by long, deep positions that provide good stability and allow powerful movements while strengthening the legs.
