Japanese Shoes

Japanese shoes: Geta, Zori and Setta. The Geta are wooden sandals traditionally worn with a Kimono or Yukata. The Zori are straw sandals. The Setta are thin and elegant Japanese sandals.

Regular walking with these shoes is a sure way to improve your balance. The support force is applied between the 1st and the 2nd toe.

Tip to choose the size of Geta, Zori, Setta: the heel is about 1.5 to 2cm.

Compare Japanese (in cm) and French sizes.

* Japanese shoes must hold your foot when you walk or when you just stand up. They must be tight so your foot does not move forward. To tighten them well, pull the "HANAO" (straps) before putting on your shoes for the first time, then check if your feet are well held. Note that small toes can protrude outside.

  • Geta

The geta are Japanese wooden sandals formed of the body of the shoe and the teeth underneath with thongs passing between the big toe and the second toe. They are usually worn with a yukata or kimono and tabi, socks divided into two parts, the first to put the big toe, the second for the other four toes.
